Greedy Blog

The DW Forum is pretty dry today, except for this sentence from Bryan Davis (last letter):
Another fundamental principle of democracy is that democratic nations do not start wars.
Is there any support for this in either history or theory? No.
History: Our country was founded by waging war against England. Greece, the mother of democracy, was always at war. Also see Rome and England.
Theory: Rule by a majority of the people. If a majority of the people (say, 70%) want war, it would be undemocratic not to wage it.
